ICU Delirium

Jenzi Silverman, Ph.D.

This is a 20-minute PowerPoint/VoiceThread presentation by Jenzi Silverman, a member of the MMI Board of Directors. She  is currently faculty at the University of Minnesota Earl E. Bakken  Center for Spirituality and Healing, teaching Music for Wellbeing in  Times of Stress and Anxiety; Music, Health, and Healing; and Overview of  the Creative Arts in Healing.

In this presentation Jenzi  draws upon multiple sources including Andrew Schulman's book, Waking the Spirit. ICU Delirium is widely recognized as one of the most difficult issues facing the medical staff in providing care for their patients. If not treated properly, it can lead to multiple long term health problems including premature mortality. Medical music can be an effective remedy to lessen the severity of ICU delirium.
