Renée  Fleming is one of the great singers of our time. She is also passionate  about the central importance of music and the arts in our society. She  has spearheaded, with Dr. Francis Collins, Director of the NIH, the  Sound Health initiative at the Kennedy Center and has created a  presentation called "Music and the Mind" which she has presented in more  than 20 cities across North America. 

Ms. Fleming gave this  presentation on July 18, 2019 at the Tanglewood Learning Institute; part of the Tanglewood Music Festival.  She  invited Dr. Marvin McMillen and Andrew Schulman to join her. Schulman spoke and performed music by Bach and the Beatles and Dr. McMillen gave a PowerPoint presentation about the latest scientific evidence of the power of music to heal in a hospital setting.
